In our modern digital age, it is easy to spend more time on our devices than we do than participating in productive activities. Whether it's the parents trying to sneak in some extra work at home or the kids always updating their social media, it seems as though tech-addiction is also keeping families from spending time with each other in healthy manners. Here are five activities that can improve your tech-addicted family relationships.

Travel Together

Traveling is a great way to put down technology and spend some quality time together. It is essential that you travel somewhere that makes it hard to stay connected to technology. Going on cruises, camping, hiking, and exploring are all examples of trips that will make it difficult for family members to stay connected to technology. Park & Preston would be happy to help with taking your family somewhere highly engaging, like Disney or on luxurious cruises.

Take Up a Sport As a Family

Improve family relationships while getting everyone fit by taking up a team sport. Golf is an excellent example of a sport that you can take up as a family. When you are out on the golf course, there is no need to be plugged into technology. Golf is a game that can be played at any age. Whether you are just starting elementary school or you are in your 50s, you will be able to enjoy the game of golf. There are also many other sports that will help you bond as a family like skiing, softball, or swimming.

Start a Book Club

When you start a book club, you are instantly putting down your devices and picking up a book. Not only will you be able to bond when you talk about the book you are reading, but you will be able to ween everyone off of their tech-addictions by replacing devices with books. Plus, you can even designate a specific time for everyone to read, so as to make sure everyone is getting some time away from the screen.

Work on a Project Together

Working on a project together can be a great way to bond and get rid of technology for a while. Whether you are restoring an old car or fixing up something in your house, a project will force your family to learn how to work together. This is something that can teach great principles to your children and form strong bonds.

Pick a Hobby That Your Whole Family Enjoys

There are many hobbies out there that are great for families. Model trains are a great example of a hobby that will help everyone put their technology away for a while so that they can build something together.

These are just a few of the many different activities that can help families put down their devices and start spending more time together. Before you know it, there will be less time in front of screens and more time spent making valuable memories.
