Toy Story Early Morning Magic

I know that this word is used frequently by Disney® but in the case of the Toy Story Early Morning Magic event at Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios®, magical is the right word to describe the time my family and I had at this event. Here are the basics:

  • Offered on Select Days

  • Access To Toy Story Land at 7:30am until 9am

  • Breakfast available until 10am

  • Breakfast buffet open as early as 7am

  • Coffee and water available at various places in Toy Story Land during the event

  • $79 for Adults and $69 for kids 3 to 9

Let’s start at the beginning. Parking was a breeze. There were no lines to enter the park where you’re asked to show your ticket and given a wrist band. Once you’re in, the Disney employees welcome you as you walk to Toy Story Land®. If you arrive early, you can choose have breakfast at the Commissary first -- more about that later.

We went straight to Toy Story Land and waited for the rope drop.

I’m not sure how many people were there, but it seemed at most a few hundred. As a result, there was no rush, no running and almost no lines. The big “A Ticket” attraction is of course the Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster. We went on it three times. We could have gone a lot more, but my husband doesn’t really like thrill rides - but he liked this one.

The ride called Toy Story Mania at Walt Disney World is similar to the same ride at Disneyland, however, the theming is much better. This is a good thing, because if you ride this later in the day, you will be in line for quite a while. We did that twice, (both walk-ons) and twice we continued to be amazed by the theming. Take a look at that non-lines!

We also went twice on the Alien Swirling Saucers, which we thought was similar to Mater’s Junkyard ride at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure®, except that this ride is smoother than Mater.

Unless you have starving teenagers, what I recommend is that you postpone going to breakfast until the park opens to the general public. You’ll know when it opens because the line for the Slinky Dog Dash instantly goes from < 5 minutes to more like 2 hours.

On our way to breakfast, we stopped for the character meet and greets with Woody, Jesse and Buzz Lightyear. Again, very little time spent waiting.

Right after 9am, we headed to the Commissary for breakfast. What were the offerings? The adult entrees were: Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Egg Bowl, Shrimp and Southern Grits Bowl, Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut Bowl, Breakfast Charcuterie Platter, and Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg Plate. The kid’s offerings were a kid’s portion of the Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut Bowl or Scrambled Eggs – both included sweet potato barrels. Also available was a buffet that included fresh fruit, yogurt with various toppings and cereal. Juices, Coffee, Tea and water.

Each person in our party ordered a different entree and we all shared - meaning we all got to taste everything. How was the food? On a scale of 1 to 10, it was an 11. How was the service? So good that we made a point to tell the manager how great it was. Which breakfast did we enjoy best? For each of us, the answer was the first breakfast we ordered. But keep in mind, it’s all you can eat. I even liked the Shrimp and Southern Grits, something I rarely order. My husband’s favorite was the Breakfast Charcuterie Platter – which he ordered twice. Even the coffee was good… and the fresh fruit was terrific. I don’t think any of us were hungry again until late that evening.

Would I recommend spending an extra $79 each for this? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Yes. I’m planning to take my grandchildren next time, and I’m telling everyone I know that this event is worth getting up at the crack of dawn – even though you’re on vacation.

Another winner Walt Disney World®. Thanks!!
